Due to the immediate need for interdisciplinary, skilled practitioners, education is a key component of the Duke Center for Health Informatics. Duke’s education efforts in the interdisciplinary field of Health Informatics consists of degree programs, certificates, and executive education. The Center bridges the programs by maintaining a core curriculum of courses available to all of the programs, by serving as the nexus of interdisciplinary education, and by facilitating student access to courses across the programs. A recent article by U.S. News & World Report describes the health informatics field as one that offers substantial employment opportunities for those seeking careers converging health care with information technology.
